Samsung will relaunch its smartphone “Fan Edition”, according to the South Korean media Hankooki. This series was a major success thanks to the Galaxy S20 FE before disappointing with the Galaxy S21 FE. Too expensive and launched late, it had not convinced when it came out before offering itself a second life thanks to discounts. Samsung, however, had decided to draw a line on this range last year by not offering S22 FE. The idea was then to focus on sales of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but we can think that the shortage of chips may have upset the plans of the manufacturer.

Very quickly, rumors evoked the return of the series in 2023 and this seems to be confirmed. Samsung reportedly plans to launch a Galaxy S23 FE in August or September, about six months after the S23. The timing seems relevant since the manufacturer will have given time to its prestige cuvée to impose itself.

The Galaxy S23 FE would replace the Galaxy A74

Samsung seeks to counter Chinese manufacturers by multiplying references, but this model is risky. There is a risk of cannibalization and the world number one would have decided to relaunch its FE model to the detriment of the A74. Expected successor Galaxy A73, this model that makes the link between the middle and the high-end would have too many similarities with the S23 FE. So there can only be one and it is the little brother of the Galaxy S23 that seems to hold the rope. In addition, the current Galaxy A73 would have recorded sales below the expectations of the manufacturer.

For now, the technical sheet of this future smartphone has not leaked. We can think that the brand will opt for a powerful chip like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy Galaxy S23 or older, like the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The latter would reduce the price of an invoice that could gravitate around 800 euros. At this stage, however, caution should be exercised.

In the meantime, Samsung is focusing on the Galaxy S23 that have just hit the market. Three models are available, with starting prices set at 959 euros for the Galaxy S23, 1,219 euros for the Galaxy S23+ and 1,419 euros for the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
